Here's the MOST IMPORTANT THINGS FOR YOU TO KNOW if you wanna play at K-Joe:

NOW...TOP 10 BOOKING TIDBITS

1)  ABSOLUTELY NO LICENSED SONGS ALLOWED! 
No ASCAP, No BMI, No SESAC songs can be played here.  PERIOD--NO EXCEPTIONS!  Playing a licensed song requires us to pay big  licensing fees to BMI, ASCAP, or SESAC.  PLAYING A COVER SONG WILL GET US SUED!!!  NO COVER SONGS!  Not even little bits of a cover song!  I mean it!

2)  Right now, Kuppajoe does shows on FRIDAY NIGHTS (Saturdays with certain exceptions).

3)  If you're looking for a specific date, please check the  calendar to see if we already have a show on that night.

4)  We require a PRESS PACK to book a band (more info)

5)  We book 2-4 months ahead. Please be patient with us. We are trying to fit the best possible bands for the best possible shows.

6)  We don't do any booking by phone (unless we give you our number to reach us).

7) The Booking Agent will set the lineup for shows.  Please don't tell people what time you are playing until you have cleared it with the Booking Agent first.

8)  E-MAILS:
    Put your band's name in the e-mail's subject lines, please
    Include the previous e-mails
    Give us your website info so we can check you out and add you.

9) Kuppajoe is a small club, with a capacity of about 170, so if you're lookin' to make a bunch of money, we're only a "maybe".  SO....

10)  HELP US ADVERTISE YOUR SHOW and you'll make more money!  We'll both be happy!

A little disclaimer...

We at Kuppajoe do the nightclub as a part of an organization called the Goorabian Family Life Center.  Kuppajoe is one of about 10 programs we do here. 

We only have about 12 spots per month to fill, and about 100 bands trying to get them. So it gets a little hectic. 
(But that's a GREAT problem to have!)

** If you're a local band and want the option of being called for a last-minute gig, let us know.  Sometimes at K-Joe, bands cancel and we need last-minute replacements...

WHO WE BOOK

1)  STYLES:  
Kuppajoe's purpose is to reach out to people in the Fresno music scene.  Because of that, we focus on style that will draw that audience.  But if we get enough interest, we'll do any style of music...

Our average audience is from 15 to 25 years old, with only occasional nights reaching older crowds.

We generally book progressive and current styles of rock, metal, & indie music.  We are open to booking any style, provided it will draw an audience.

 2)  CONTENT:
Like we said before, Kuppajoe is an All-Ages nightclub located at a church, so we prioritize bands with clean lyrics and a good message.  This is our commitment to God, to the audience, and to the parents of the kids who come to Kuppajoe.

AS SUCH...

We do NOT allow ANY cussing from the stage!

We do NOT allow people to perform drunk or stoned!

We ask you to please censor all foul language, sexual innuendo, etc. from your lyrics or any talk onstage.     

We reserve the right to shut you down if you're gettin' nasty!

THE NIGHT YOU PLAY...

LOAD-IN: Load-in is always at 6:30pm unless otherwise notified. This means your bands should have at least one representative from your band, if not the whole band, with all of your gear at the club. Also at this time we brief you on set line-up, set times, guest list, etc.

We have a closet set aside for storing equipment until it is your time to perform. When you get to the club just seek out either Nick Kennedy or Jesse Kennedy for info for the night.

IF YOU ARE GOING TO BE LATE...
-If you're going to be late due to a work schedule conflict you need to let us know at least 4 days before the show.
- If you're going to be a "rock star" and be fashionably late, then you will play last and you may not be booked again.
-If one member of your band is just running late just give us a call, don't stress out, and get to Kuppajoe as soon as you can.

SOME INFO ABOUT KUPPAJOE 

Kuppajoe Logistics:
Room size:  Kuppajoe is an annex of a gymnasium facility and is on the campus of a large church.  We are a Christian outreach center called the Goorabian Family Life Center. 
Kuppajoe is about 25' x 50' (1250 sq. ft.)  Our capacity ranges from 80-170 based upon the furniture in the room

Sound System:  Kuppajoe has a KILLER sound system to rival most clubs.  We push about 7500 watts through mains, two subs, and four separate monitor mixes.  Some details:
MAINS:
Two JBL M-Series Full-range mains (1-15" Low, 1-10" Mid, 1-1.5" Horn)
SUBS:
JBL Dual front-loaded sub - 2- 18"
MONITORS:
Two Genz Benz 12" for vocals, Two EV 15" for instruments
VOCAL MICS:
We use Audix mics (great mics but small cardioid)
INSTRUMENT MICS:
We use Shure 57's and Shure P-Series drum mics

Plus all the cables we need.

Audio/Visual:   Kuppajoe also has an audio visual setup with a 10 x 12 screen and projector running through the system. 
Some bands ask about playing video behind them. 
 All videos have to be approved first BEFORE THE PERFORMANCE!!

Lighting:  Kuppajoe's lighting system is small but very effective.  It includes 13 small floods and 2 par-54 cans on 8 x 2 channels, with programmable and tap-tempo chase and full fade/blackout capabilities.

 Band Pay: 
UNSIGNED BANDS:  We pay bands based upon door draw.  Sorry, no guarantees.  Kuppajoe always gives the bands half of the money at the door. 
SO...
if you help us draw people to the show by advertising and stuff, you make more $$$!

SIGNED BANDS:  If you are signed to a good label and have regional distribution, we will work out pay details and extras with you separately.  Generally speaking, we can't afford much more than $200 for a band, so if you need more, talk to us.

 Selling your Merchandise: 
We provide an area for you to sell your stuff.  You keep ALL of the proceeds.  It must be clean stuff--no bad language, etc.  We reserve the right to censor!

Food/Lodging:
 We DO sometimes have some ability to help with food and lodging,  Ask us ahead of time and we'll do what we can to help.

Free Stuff for you:
The Bar:  We have a bar with drinks and candy.  For the band and their "roadies", the bar is free all night

Guest List:  Each band gets 2 free guests.  Let us know their names beforehand. We do make special exceptions at times so if you have a problem find Nick or Jesse Kennedy and we'll figure something out.

Showers:  If you're traveling and need to shower--let us know at the beginning of the evening.  We'll hook you up!
